Places to visit in Pozantı

Pozantı is a town with an altitude of 784, located in the northern part of Adana, between the Taurus Mountains. Being on the Adana-Ankara highway makes it a privilege to be reached in 1 hour. There are many plateaus, historical artifacts and water sources in the district. It is especially preferred by those who want to get away from the heat of Adana in summer and see snow in winter.

We recommend that you drink the spring water flowing from the Cemal Pasha Mosque fountain in Pozantı district center and try the famous tahini bread sold in the bakeries of the district. You can reach Pozantı by minibuses departing from Adana's canal area, or by trains departing from the station every morning.

Şekerpınarı and Akköprü: Şekerpınarı is a strong spring that comes out of the mountains as a river. It forms an important branch of Çakıt River. Since it is on an important road, a historical bridge was built on it. Akköprü, which is estimated to have been built in the 8th century, adds a different beauty to the view of Şekerpınarı. Adana's famous halka dessert, which is sold hot in and facilities, and meat that is famous in  all Turkey are two the flavors those who go here should taste. We recommend that you cross the suspension bridge, known as the Şapkalı Bridge, and return by using the historical Akköprü after drinking water from the gutter across the road. The coolness and strength of the water gives a different pleasure to the food. Do not forget to see the place where Şekerpınarı emerges from the mountain.

 

Belemedik Nature Park: Belemedik is a natural wonder located on the valley opened by Çakıt River between the Taurus Mountains. The ruins of the town established by the Germans who built the Baghdad Railway, the visuality of the railway and its tunnels, the feeling of the centuries-old plane trees, the views created by the Çakıt water when the mountains are split are sufficient reasons to see this place. The restaurant opened by the Municipality of Pozantı offers breakfast and food service, as well as accommodation in bungalows and boutique hotels. Necessary space and infrastructure services are provided for camping.

It also provides many activities such as bike rental, angling, wildlife watching. Photography enthusiasts prefer this place, especially in autumn, as it offers hundreds of shades from yellow to orange. The 16 km  Taşdurmaz track, preferred by off road, mountain biking and trekking enthusiasts between the villages of Belemedik-Kuşçular, offers magnificent views.

 

Akçatekir Highland: Akçatekir is one of the largest plateaus in Turkey and its population exceeds 200 thousand in summer. It is located in a valley between two mountains and has an altitude of 1300 metres. It is one of the most preferred plateaus among the local people with its cool and humid air, green nature, and ice-cold spring waters. In Akçatekir, which has a very large bazaar, there are many butcher shops that serve sucuk and chopsteaks, cafes that serve Karsambaç, a local dessert made with snow..As you move through the bazaar, centuries-old plane trees cover the whole road like a tunnel. The plateau, which can be reached in 45 minutes by highway from Adana, appeals to people of all tastes.

Armutoluğu Plateau: The plateau, which is approximately 13 km away from Pozantı on the way from Pozantı to Kızıldağ, stands out as a preferred plateau in summer months, with its altitude 500 meters higher than the district center. Especially spruce and tar trees, orchards, the plateau, which offers every shade of green, also impresses visitors with the visuality of wooden and stone houses built in different architectures.

İbrahimpaşa Bastion: The bastions, which were built İbrahim Pasha, to control the Gülek Strait and the road that followed, which connected the Mediterranean to Central Anatolia. Today, when you reach the structure that can hardly be seen through the trees, the view you see makes you forget all this trouble. The Ak Bastion, which is located just behind the Akçatekir Bazaar, is one of these two bastions, hat has reached the present day in a better condition and can be reached more easily. You can reach here with a short climb by following the sign on the right on the old Adana-Ankara road.
