Cycling

Adana is a leading city in cycling, thanks to its low roughness and mild climate. Adana's cycling culture is very old and has been used extensively for transportation purposes since the past.

One of the most enjoyable activities for those who come to Adana for sightseeing is cycling. Thanks to the fact that the Seyhan River passes through the city and there are roads parallel to the river, there are many safe routes that are visually pleasing and have no/less vehicle traffic. Again, the fact that the  Old Dam (Eski Baraj)  Lake and the Seyhan Dam Lake are very close to the city provides a great advantage in this regard.

Places for Cycling in Adana City Center

Among the places to rent bicycles in Adana, there are businesses that rent bicycles in the area known as Dilberler Sekisi in the Old Dam and on the Yaşar Kemal Walking Road just across the lake. It will be a very enjoyable experience to use the Gençlik Bridge by renting a bicycle from here and to ride a bicycle in the pedestrian area on the east side of the lake.

One of the routes to cycle in Adana is the parts of the Seyhan River between the Old Dam and Girne Bridge. Here, too, there are parks on both sides of the Seyhan River. You can cross the river by using the Sinanpaşa and Yavuzlar Bridges and have a pleasant experience in this area where vehicle traffic is also low and there is a bicycle path on the Seyhan side of the river.

Another place to visit by bicycle in Adana is Adnan Menderes Boulevard on the shore of the Seyhan Dam. It is possible to pedal with pleasure while enjoying the lake view by using the bicycle path along the boulevard.

Adana Lake Tour

We recommend the 35 km route, also known as the "Lake Tour" among Adana residents, as the most suitable route for cycling in Adana for regular cyclists with a slightly higher performance. Thanks to the Çatalan West and East bridges over the Seyhan Dam, it is possible to complete the circumference of the lake with a circular tour. On this route, which is extremely satisfying in terms of scenery, the silhouette of Adana is impressive, especially from the vicinity of Bayramhacılı village. Adana Lake Tour can be made in the form of Kurttepe, Çatalan West Bridge, Topalak, Çatalan East Bridge, Bayramhacılı, New Stadium, Balcalı, or the route can be made from the opposite direction. The route, which includes an average of 400-500 meters of climbing, is extremely enjoyable.

Taşdurmaz Route

A one-day route that we would definitely recommend to cyclists with sufficient condition in Adana is Taşdurmaz Route. Taşdurmaz is a highway built under very difficult conditions that the Germans used during the construction of the Baghdad Railway, stretching along the Çakıt Valley. This road, which is still used by the Regional Directorate of Forestry for early intervention in the fire, is a route preferred by off-road enthusiasts and trekking lovers, which can only be reached with 4WD vehicles with difficulty. This route, which is especially suitable for mountain bikes, gives cyclists the feeling of seeing places that very few people have been able to see and makes them feel privileged. Between the Taurus Mountains, Çakıt Valley on one side and railway bridges and tunnels on the other, we recommend you to pedal in this view.

There are also many bicycle clubs in Adana that you can reach via social media to participate in collective bicycle rides.
